Our Chardonnay is the brainchild of Fabrizio Bianchi, who – in the mid-1970s – decided to plant these vines on the winery’s land outside of the Chianti Classico denomination. Inspired by the great white wines of Burgundy, it was initially fermented entirely in wooden tanks, but since 2000 the volume of oak-fermented grapes has been steadily decreasing – with 70% of the grapes now fermented in stainless steel tanks. There is a large stock of our Chardonnay in our cellar, illustrating this wine’s ability to stand up to the passage of time

Climate trend
After a cold winter, which helps to prevent diseases that affect the vines, the spring rains allowed for the creation of important water reserves, suitable for facing a moderately hot summer characterized by low rainfall. The climate, on average, more rigid and humid in the first half of the year "slightly delayed the vegetative cycle of the vine compared to the last few years, with a rhythm of the times reminiscent of the great years of the 1980s. In a hot but regular summer without particular heat peaks or abundant rainfall, a September characterized by good weather and large temperature variations followed, which allowed the perfect phenolic ripening of the grapes. 2019 is already a vintage with an outstanding capacity for ageing.
